Monroe County New York

As part of one of the most populated states in the country, Monroe County, NY is situated along the shores of Lake Ontario. Although, it was initially part of a larger county in the 17th century, Monroe County was not officially established until February 23, 1821.

Its name was derived from a Founding Father and the fifth presidentof the United States, James Monroe.
