Dutchess County New York

Dutchess County, New York is seated in the southeastern corner of the state. The Hudson River runs along the right side of the county. It was created in 1683 and was one of the original counties of New York. Dutchess County was not inhabited until 1701 and most of the original settlers were Dutch. Later, most of the settlers changed to Germans. In 1713, the county was organized. The county seat is currently Poughkeepsie. The next largest city is Beacon.
