In the 1840s-1870s, other areas were formed, forming their own separate territories, such as Kingsbridge, West Farms and Morrisania,to name a few, these areas of the Bronx are well-known to this day.

In the early 20th century, particularly after the First World War, the Bronx underwent some major changes, especially with the establishment of the New York Subway and Elevated Railways, which was extended to the Bronx by 1918, with the No.4 line Train, to Woodlawn, NY. This caused a massive influx of immigrants to flood the area.
