Penalties for Non-Compliance
“Nebraska Statutes 60-528 Proof of Financial Responsibility” established the penalties for not carrying the proper levels of insurance. The first offense could lead to a fine of up to $1,000, six months jail time and license suspension. The vehicle registration will be suspended until the owner can prove he has insurance and pays the $50 reinstatement fee.
