It started with the type A engine
Toyota Car Company is one of the leading Japanese automotive companies. The company has its headquarters in Aichi Japan. The first Toyota automotive was produced a short time after the production of the first Toyota engine, the type A engine. The first automotive was named the A1. At this time Toyota was still named Toyoda. After successfully producing the A1 Toyota automobile, the company started producing G1 type trucks in the year 1936. This led to the transformation of the company from Toyoda to Toyota Motor Corporation Ltd. Replacing the d with a t was aimed at making pronunciation easier for the widening client base.
In the late 50s, the company started producing mass cars that were meant for the common people. They were made to be very small, reliable and were highly affordable. In the year 1961, Toyota Publica with a 700CC engine was produced. The car hit the market very fast and by 1965, the market for big cars started declining, heightening the market for Toyota Publica. Other Japanese automobile companies saw an opportunity for small cars and started producing them. To fight this competition, Toyota produced a totally new model that was more comfortable than Publica and could be driven over longer distances. This gave rise to the Toyota Corolla in the year 1966. Corolla had a 100CC over other models produced by competitors. The 100CC covered for the extra comfort.
The first mass export for Toyota cars happened in the year 1947. The company managed to export SA cars to Egypt and BM trucks to Okinawa. By the year 1969, the company had exported a million cars. And, by the year 1979, the company was exporting its ten millionth car. All this success that had been achieved within a relatively short time was courtesy of their production system known as Toyotism.
Over the years, Toyota has invested heavily on research and development, making mergers and acquisitions, and producing new models with every passing year. Toyota has sold millions and millions of cars since it was established, leading in speed, reliability, affordability and even comfort.
