The Ford motor company was founded by Henry Ford on June 16th, 1903. Ford Motors is an American automaker and his claim to be the world’s fifth largest automaker. Based out of Dearborn Michigan on the outskirts of Detroit this has been the longest functioning Motor Company in the world. Ford has made history not only with its longevity but a history of innovation and ingenuity.
The Ford Motor Company started out with only twelve investors and one thousand shares. Ford had spent most of its twenty-eight thousand dollars startup money by the time they started selling their first Model A vehicles. By October of 1903, Ford had made a thirty-seven thousand dollar profit.In 1904, Ford opened their first internationally factory in Ontario Canada. Their Walkersville, Ontario plant was located just across the river from the Detroit plant. The Canadian plant was a separate entity with different shareholders. The intention was to sell cars to not only Canadians but to everyone across the British Empire.
As time went on Ford began to increase production with the overwhelming popularity of their vehicles. In 1907, Ford unveiled its infamous scripted logo that everyone recognizes today. The logo was designed by Childe Harold Wills using his grandfather’s stencil set. The Ford oval would later be unveiled in 1927. Ford unveiled its Model T car in 1908. 15 million Model T were produced by May of 1927 this was one of the best-selling vehicles of all time and one of the most famous cars ever to be built.in 1922 Ford bought the Lincoln Motor Company and in 1925 began the production of trimotor airplanes.some of the other more notable landmarks for this company where it’s Lincoln Zephyr line in 1936, its Mercury brand in 1938, and they also made Jeeps for the military in 1941.
In 1945, Henry Ford II became president of the Ford Company. In 1948, Ford introduced its F-series of trucks. In 1954, Ford began to crash test its vehicles in 1956 Ford becomes a publicly traded company. Since then Ford has been standing the test of time and surviving hard times.
