Buick is one of the earliest motor car companies. It was established in the 1899 in Detroit. However, the production of Buick cars did not begin until 1904, which was a year after, Auto-Vim and Power Co. had changed its name into Buick Manufacturing Company and finally to Buick Company.
In the year 1904, the first Buick Flint, Model B was manufactured. In that year 37 of these model B vehicles were manufactured. The next three years after this, the company made enormous sales in the USA and soon enough became recognized as America’s largest automobile dealer. In the year 1907, Buick started to export cars to a Canadian automobile dealer.
The Model B manufactured in the year 1904 was made with chassis and power train technology. This technology continued to be used in Buick cars until the year 1907 where the last of Buick cars to use this technology, Model F, was manufactured. The Model F weighed 1,800 lbs. it had a wheel base of 87 inches and a two-cylinder engine.
Four years down the line the first enclosed-body car by Buick was produced. From this year up to the year 1926, Buick managed to produce more cars such as the Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Oakland and Cadillac. This vehicles shared General Motors A Platform. In the year 1926, Oldsmobile and Vikings were added to the General Motors’ B segment.
In the year 1929, Buick manufactured Marquette. This Car was manufactured in order to reduce the gap in the pricing of Buick and Oldsmobile. This make was also placed on general Motor’s B platform. However, the manufacture of this vehicle was discontinued a year later.
The year 1939 was a year of great achievements for Buick. During this year, Buick was able to incorporate turn signals in all its cars. This was something that no other brand had invented. Additionally, they also invented the shift lever which was column mounted on its cars’ steering wheels. It was around this time that Buick cars begun to gain a lot of popularity among the British royal family.
